1990s Nightmare! (not a very serious template, but here you go)

OK, so I just realised that the 1990s were 20 YEARS AGO! Holy cow, how long ago was that? (although it seemed like yesterday!). I started using the internet {properly} in about 1997 and it was all about flashy web graphics, animated gifs and things that I thought were pretty awesome. In reality they were pretty ugly - well, looking back they certainly are.... but at the time *sigh*

Let me just say, this template is not meant to be taken seriously. It uses some graphics you may remember (and some you may want to forget). Please note that the links - under construction, email me, etc - are not real, they are just for decorative purposes.

Christmas Baubles - XML Blogger template. Bright, beautiful and baubleicious!

Here's one of my Christmas templates (more coming soon!). I love a good bauble - ok, I know that sounds weird - but these images by Clarice Gomes are beautiful and I was inspired to create something colourful. You could say this is definitely *not* just another grungy snowflake brush template.

Joy n Balloon - XML blogger template

This is a very colourful template that is highly customisable by you! The background colours are all changeable from within the "Fonts & Colours" area, including the navigation bar, inner blog colour and post footer colour. As I have outlined below, you can use the header image of the girls and balloons or easily add your own. Enjoy!

This blog does not come with the header image installed! It is included in the zip folder, but you will have to install this yourself.

How do I install the header image?
Click on the LAYOUT > PAGE ELEMENTS tab. Then click 'Edit' in the header area. The 'Configure Header' pop up box will open (see below). Select the header image from the downloaded folder. Selecting the position of the header as 'behind title and description' will ensure that the title/description text can still be seen. If you want to hide it, select 'instead of'.

Easy!

Can I make my own header image?
Of course! That's the reason I have made this Blogger template without the header image automatically in the template. I advise you make your header image 800px wide for best results (otherwise, if you select "shrink to fit" it may skew and look weird).
Height does not matter, that is up to you.

Once you've made your own header image, you can just install the header as per instructions above.

Please ensure that you backup your widget data, as installing a new template will wipe/erase your current widget content.

PS: If using the girls/balloon image (in the test blog) please leave the link back to the original artist of this photo: D Sharon Pruitt INTACT! (as per creative commons requirements). If you are using your own image you may, of course, remove that link.

Change Me! - Free XML Blogger template

OK, so I am going to admit that this template is not going to be to everyones liking. There are a lot of things that are changeable in this template and as such the "Fonts & Colours" area is kind of extreme and almost everything is adjustable. However, this does make for awesome control - you can pretty much make this template into whatever you want. AND.... it contains no images in the design!

So.... what's possible?

The moral of this story is that I KNOW this isn't going to be everyones cup of tea but I know some people like to control all the colours and this is for you! If you want the borders to disappear then make them the same colour as the background! Then they won't be seen!

The design works with "new" blogger - ie: it's an XML template. Please ensure that you backup your widget data, as installing a new template will wipe/erase your current widget content.
Please note that the background colour is changeable. The header has a transparent background and therefore won't look good with all colours, but it does look good with many. Here are some examples:

orange

pink

green

All the colours are changeable from within the "Fonts & Colours" area. Enjoy!

LolliPopper - free XML Blogger template

Here is a delightful lollipop themed blog template (header image by Flóra at Flickr.com - CC 2.0) and I adore it! There are quite a few changeable elements to this design - the border colour (pink the example), the background (grey in the example) and the inner blog colour - below the header image (white in the example) are all changeable. So you can make this template as bright as you like! Enjoy!

This Little Piggy - free XML template

There are so many weight loss blogs out there so I thought I would try and make something to offset that! Haha, so here is a blogger template that embraces my inner piggy :-) This also has a navigation bar (instructions to change these links are within the blog code >> just go to Layout > Edit HTML and scroll down to near the end to change the links). More detailed instructions on what to do can be found here. Enjoy!

Oh, and I have made the nav bar colour changeable from within the Fonts & Colours area. Hoorah.

I have included a PDF with instructions on how to replace the header image - alternatively you can leave it as it is and it will look the same as the live preview (the header will say "Sugar Sugar").

The header font is Black Jack and the description font is Rickles.

Custom Colours - 100% customisable blogger template

Here is a blogger design with NO graphics - you can fully customise all the colours (background, 2x borders, inner background) and create whatever kind of look you want. I've made the test blog a greyish/blue, but you can do whatever you like. I like this idea a lot....

I have had this background stored away for the last few years but I have no idea who it's by. The background image can be found here. I originally downloaded it (the background) as a MySpace template, which makes me think that it's OK for non-commercial. Anyway, hope you enjoy it!

Note: the inner background colour and the border colour is completely customisable from within the "Colours & Fonts" area.

Cookie Top - free XML blogger DIY template

I love brown when it's done well (that sounds so odd to say) - but other, brighter, colours tend to look very pretty with dark brown. Anyway, I love this template. It's 750 pixels wide.

This blogger template is for those of you who are comfortable editing images and uploading them to the internet (and then replacing the image path). YOUR BLOG TITLE AND DESCRIPTION WILL NOT SHOW UP - this design is not interactive from your Blogger Dashboard.

Until you edit the image yourself, you'll have the same header as I do on the test site.

ALSO - here are some FAQs:

"WHY did you make this design like this?"
Two reasons really - one: you can edit this header image - remove the "Blog Title Here" text and put your own thing in (you can use any graphics editor to put your own text onto this banner and there are waaaay more font choices than the silly old internet can handle. DaFont: droolworthy!) and two: I just thought it would be more interesting - and things are definitely better when they're more interesting ;-)

"I don't want to edit my own header image! Can you please let me know how to make my title & description come through from Blogger?"
No. Your blog title and description is NOT going to come through (and actually "fit" in the correct bit), so bad luck.

"What graphics program can I use to edit this image?"
I have Photoshop CS, but you can use any graphics program that allows you to open/edit a JPEG or GIF - which should be pretty much any graphics program. I have included the PS file, GIF and JPEG.

"Ok, I made my own banner, now what?"
Now you'll have to upload it to some hosting on the internet. I host my files on photobucket.com (a free image hosting service) but there are more options out there.
Upload the file to the internet, then find the URL of the image.

Next, go to the "Layout" >> "Edit HTML" section of your blog.
You will need to replace the original header image - seen on the test page - to be your own.

Scroll down until you find the following image path:
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa231/free_blogger/CookieTop.gif

.....and replace with the image path of your new title. Viola!
