Joy n Balloon - XML blogger template

This is a very colourful template that is highly customisable by you! The background colours are all changeable from within the "Fonts & Colours" area, including the navigation bar, inner blog colour and post footer colour. As I have outlined below, you can use the header image of the girls and balloons or easily add your own. Enjoy!

This blog does not come with the header image installed! It is included in the zip folder, but you will have to install this yourself.

How do I install the header image?
Click on the LAYOUT > PAGE ELEMENTS tab. Then click 'Edit' in the header area. The 'Configure Header' pop up box will open (see below). Select the header image from the downloaded folder. Selecting the position of the header as 'behind title and description' will ensure that the title/description text can still be seen. If you want to hide it, select 'instead of'.

Easy!

Can I make my own header image?
Of course! That's the reason I have made this Blogger template without the header image automatically in the template. I advise you make your header image 800px wide for best results (otherwise, if you select "shrink to fit" it may skew and look weird).
Height does not matter, that is up to you.

Once you've made your own header image, you can just install the header as per instructions above.

Please ensure that you backup your widget data, as installing a new template will wipe/erase your current widget content.

PS: If using the girls/balloon image (in the test blog) please leave the link back to the original artist of this photo: D Sharon Pruitt INTACT! (as per creative commons requirements). If you are using your own image you may, of course, remove that link.

  1. How does one back up the widget data, I've been having problems with that and can't change my template.

  2. Hi Myne,
There may be ways out there of copying and pasting the code (although it's not the normal html code of the blog, it's the deep dark XML code) but I don't think it always works and it can be a bit hit/miss (google it and you should find some pages with info on how to do it). Saving widgets is a pain, but this is the way I do it: I copy and paste all info/html code into a word document and then re-paste it in when I've installed a new template. My links list (on my personal blog) was the biggest pain in the ass to re-add but now I use Google Reader to manage that - which is EASY as it just takes a few clicks to re-add all my blog links. Click here for info on how to do it.

    Hope that helps!

  5. Hi Marta,

To remove the link, go to LAYOUT > EDIT HTML, find this code (riiiiight down the bottom) and delete it. Be careful not to delete anything else.

    <- Header image by < a href = ' http://www.flickr.com/photos/pinksherbet/3741128919/in/set-72157610551917961/ ' target = '_blank '> D Sharon Pruitt< / a>

NOTE: I have added some extra spaces above to ensure the code was visible. It does not have that many spaces in the real code.

  6. Ohh, PS: it added an extra bracket at the beginning there:

    <

Ignore the very first character in the code I posted above. The stuff you're going to delete actually starts with the "-" character.
